Some of the early stamps of Saudi Arabia are those of the Sultanate of Nejd Period. The brief Nejd Philatelic Period (March 1925 - March 1926) presents challenges to collectors. Many of the Nejd handstamps and surcharges have been forged in quantity. There is also a lack of published material beyond the basic stamp catalogs.
In addition, the non-Arabic speaking collectors have difficulties in deciphering the Arabic on the stamps. Until now, the little information available about these stamps has not been reliable.
This manual is written in a user-friendly manner for the beginner as well as the advanced collector. The author has covered this branch of philately with great depth and clarity. He addresses the earliest cancellation dates, stamp colors, surcharges, handstamps and their varieties as wel as the characteristics of genuine and forget Nejd stamps.
